Cardiff Lane/Lime Street is a significant city centre site of 16,643m2 located in the prime business district of Dublin 2. The overall site strategy proposes two commercial and residential buildings. The site has been acquired by NewGen who intend to redevelop the overall site to provide high grade residential units and office space, as well as a range of supporting amenities.
The proposed development involves the replacement of the existing warehouse buildings with office and residential buildings, generally 6 storeys over a basement that reflect the intentions of the SDZ. The proposed building is of high design quality and more in line with the surrounding Grand Canal Dock. The development improves streetscape and vistas from surroundings. The increase in the accessible open space and realignment of Hanover Street East replaces the inaccessible present situation of the site.
The ordered architecture and the lightness of the stone improves the streetscape and city scape when the building is viewed from Misery Hill, Pearse Street and Townsend Street. Open views around the site are being maintained through the spacing of the proposed blocks and the introduction of a landscaped area to Hanover Street East.
